I have got a number of e-mails asking about which anti-aging serum or anti-wrinkle serum is most effective. The field of anti-aging has been growing rapidly as advancements in science and health take leaps and bounds. Many people are finding great benefits in using anti-aging serums and products.
Anti-aging serums come in a number of varieties with many different active ingredients. There are so many out there, and with how shady many cosmetics companies are, it’s hard to decide what’s good and what isn’t.
What should you look for in an anti-aging serum? As you know, the job of an anti-aging serum is to deliver anti-aging active ingredients through the top layer of the skin to penetrate down into the deeper layers to get rid of fine lines, laugh lines, and wrinkles. Many cosmetics companies make their serum or lotion water based. This saves the company a lot of money, but they sacrifice effectiveness. This is why you should always look for a lipid based deep wrinkle serum.
In addition to using water as a base, many companies take this opportunity to water down their active ingredients to lower production costs. Many companies have as little as 1% active ingredients in their anti-aging serum. You should look for a highly potent serum with 100% active ingredients.
So what are some good anti-aging serums? One I highly suggest is called SD7 deep wrinkle serum. This anti-aging serum is top of the line; One bottle is a 6 months supply, and it is lipid based as well as having 100% active ingredients. It has top of the line anti-wrinkle actives such as trans-retinoic acid (main ingredient in retinol-A), anti-oxidants, and many naturally occuring botanicals that make wrinkles disappear. Also, this product is guaranteed to make you look younger in 30 days or your money back.
One common symptom of acne breakouts and other skin problems is inflammation and redness. The site of an acne pimple is often inflamed, red, and tender or painful. To many people, having the pimple is not nearly as bad as the pain, redness, and irritation that goes with it. Here I will outline a few steps you can take to minimize acne redness and inflammation. Many of these tips will work in as fast as a few minutes to a few days.
First, use a warm compress on the affected area. Make sure it is warm and not hot, you do not want to irritate the skin further. This will soften the skin, and bring bacteria and pus causing the irritation to the surface. If it is a whitehead, this will often prevent you from having to drain it. If it does open or drain, be sure to wash it with antibacterial soap and throw some acne gel and acne moisturizer gel on there for good measure.
Next, I’d suggest icing the red or inflamed area. I like to go off and on with the compress and the icing, this causes the blood vessels near the surface of the skin to dilate and contract, flushing toxins and inflammation from the skin. This will reduce swelling and inflammation significantly.
Another way to reduce acne redness literally overnight is to take ibuprofen or tylenol. These are known as NSAIDs or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. This will reduce pain, swelling, and redness around the affected area.
Some people suggest using make up to cover up these areas, this obviously only works if you are female. (I’m sure it would work for males too but they don’t have the luxury of being able to do that without ridicule).
To reduce acne redness and acne in general in the long run, eat more fibrous vegetables, and take omega-3 supplements such as fish oil capsules. These are profound anti-inflammatory agents and will do wonders for your hair and skin.
As you can see, acne redness and inflammation doesn’t have to be torture, and there are many ways to reduce it.
Many people are looking for a quick way to get rid of acne pimples. Here is something you can do that should minimize the appearance of an acne pimple significantly overnight.
First, you want to clean the area completely, using a gentle wash (remember the less irritation the better). Pat the skin dry, and then apply a warm cloth to the pimple. This will cause blood to flow to the top layer of the skin called the epidermis, bringing with it fresh nutrients and flushing out toxins that caused the acne pimple in the first place.
After, apply a ton of benzoil peroxide acne gel to the affected area. When rubbing in acne gel, you have to be very gentle. Use gentle circles with your fingertips, and slowly massage in the gel or cream. This will cause it to be fully absorbed. The warm compress will help to open the pores so that the medicated gel can get in and do its thing.
Next, apply moisturizer to the skin and gently massage into the skin so that you do not cause irritation. This will prevent the acne gel from drying out the skin too much, which is a big reason why people breakout when trying to control breakouts!
Finally, take a solid amount of ibuprofen. This will drastically reduce redness and inflammation, literally overnight. I do this whenever I have an unsightly acne pimple that I need to go away overnight.

Too many insecure people these days are too afraid of judgement by their peers, so they don’t take as good care of their skin as they should. Until recently, there were not too many mens skincare tips to be found online. It was all fashion and beauty sites with make up and beauty tips for women. This caused me to want to make a guide for men. I will show you the products I recommend, as well as some ways you can get great skin from the inside out by making some lifestyle changes.
Here are some of the best mens skincare products:
Clearasil Ultra – A benzoil peroxide based acne product, I have personally used this with great results, absolutely zaps acne in less than two days. Do not use if you have extremely sensitive skin; I recommend pairing this with a moisturizer such as cetaphil moisturizing lotion, or cetaphil sunscreen moisturizer. These have no active ingredients and work in synergy with other products.
Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10 – A favorite of many, Clean & Clear really delivers with their gel-based persa-gel 10. Gel based benzoil peroxide treatments are advantageous over cream-based because they offer better absorption. Pair with a moisturizer like cetaphil.
Proactiv Solution – As seen on the commercials, this is the three part step by step system known worldwide. There is a reason why so many people rely on this, simply because it works. Their toner, face wash, and repairing gel are top notch products, and their product quality is superb. Check out Proactiv on amazon.

There is a lot of debate over what products are best for eliminating acne fast and easy. Getting rid of acne quickly is not always an easy proposition. Some acne is worse than others, and it is recommended that you see a dermatologist or doctor in general to find out what course of treatment is best. However, barring prescription products, one of the most popular over the counter acne treatments is benzoil peroxide-based acne gel and acne cream.
Popular brands include Proactiv, Clearasil, and others. Benzoil peroxide works by killing bacteria inside pores, which is what causes acne in the first place. The pore gets clogged by dead skin and sebum (the oil that moisturizes your skin), causing bacteria to thrive and a acne zit to form.
benzoil peroxide acne gel vs. acne cream?
A common question is, which is better, acne GEL made with benzoil peroxide or acne cream made with the same. What’s the difference between gel and cream? Cream is usually oil or water based while gel is usually based in oil or a synthetic material such as glycerin that is half way between oil and water, yet doesn’t clog pores.
Cream has a harder time penetrating the top layers of the skin, known as the epidermis. Gel is a lot better at penetrating skin. When at all possible, opt for benzoil peroxide acne gel over acne cream. Why? Simply better absorption, more benzoil peroxide will end up in your pores doing the dirty work with acne gels than acne creams. This brings us to another question…
2% or 10% benzoil peroxide acne gel?
Another common question is whether 2% or 10% benzoil peroxide acne gel is better. While most would assume that 10% is better, in this case it is actually the opposite. With preventing acne and acne solutions, the best thing to do in general is minimize irritation.
When you have 10% benzoil peroxide, this causes a lot of undue irritation without giving enough extra benefit. Research has proven that 2% is just as effective if not better than 10%. The 10% will simply dry out your skin faster and probably cause another acne breakout.
To take full advantage of your benzoil peroxide acne gel, take the following steps:
Wash face fully with non-irritating face wash, I like to take a long shower to get my skin nice and soft
Pad off face with a towel, again not causing any undue friction or irritation
Apply GRATUITOUS amounts of benzoil peroxide acne gel to finger tips, and work into problem areas of skin with VERY GENTLE circles. Your fingers should be hardly grazing the skin, but enough to get it absorbed by your skin
Wait 5 or 10 minutes for full absorption of the gel, then use the same technique to apply a non-irritating moisturizer, this will prevent over drying and is actually KEY to getting clear skin
There are many options out there when it comes to choosing an acne cleanser to prevent acne breakouts. Most people assume that the more scientific-sounding ingredients or higher percentage points next to the ingredients automatically means it is a better product. In my experience with skin care, the most gentle acne cleanser and face wash are the best.
My favorite acne cleanser is a glycerin based wash called cetaphil. This is available in off-brand at many drug stores for cheaper as well. This is as basic as acne cleanser gets but it has no ingredients that dry out or irritate your skin. This is key – most face washes have harsh acids or other chemicals that simply cause more acne breakouts. This type of acne cleanser is very gentle on your skin, causing minimal irritation.
A second type of acne cleanser is benzoil peroxide based acne cleansers. ONLY use this type of cleanser if you have moisturizer on hand. Keeping your skin clear is a delicate balance between dryness and greasiness… you must wash your face twice a day to keep it from getting greasy, but if you overwash it or don’t moisturize after you wash it, you will suffer from more acne breakouts.
It goes without saying that no matter which acne cleanser you should choose, always have a solid moisturizer to go with it. Don’t use oily moisturizer lotion full of perfumes, or containers that say “body lotion”. These tend to clog up your pores and cause more acne. Again, cetaphil makes a moisturizer too, also available in off-brand. Also glycerin-based, this combination is minimalist but I have found it works best.
For many people acne flares up suddenly and without warning- you go to bed looking perfectly fine but you wake up with red volcanoes populating your forehead. This is called an acne breakout, or “eruption” as some people call it. Your internal alarms go off and you panic, you smear all kinds of creams on it, wash it a thousand times, dry it out, and make it much much worse. Acne breakouts are a vicious cycle, but fear not- you can stop acne breakouts with a few of these skin care tips.
Preventing Acne Breakouts
The first and most important thing for preventing acne breakouts is to drink plenty of water. We are made up of 70% water, so you can see why our body cannot get enough of it. I cannot stress this enough… why do you think models drink a gallon of water a day? It keeps the pipes running smoothly, cleaning out wastes and toxins from places like your liver which have a profound impact on your skin’s appearance. This can be seen in the opposite, when someone has hepatitis or an unhealthy liver they have yellowed skin, etc.
You are what you eat – Eating the Right Foods Will Minimize Acne Breakouts
The next most important thing is to watch your diet. People like to say “chocolate doesn’t cause acne” and proceed to think they can eat whatever they want. This is just unfounded in fact. For example, on a diet I did once back in my bodybuilding days I ate high amounts of protein and saturated fat… this led to more androgen production and my face become greasier than it ever had been. Acne breakouts are no fun. Eat plenty of fiber and whole, healthy foods.
I’m not saying stop eating the foods you like. I enjoy myself some Ben and Jerry’s (Peach cobbler, it’s phenomenal), so why deny yourself it? When you start replacing sugar and fat filled foods with more wholesome sources, combined with increased water intake, you will see an exponential increase in appearance.
Exercise Minimizes Acne Breakouts
Once your diet is in check, it’s time to start exercising. Exercise is a great way to minimize acne breakouts. Most people limit themselves because when they think of exercise they think of work. They also think of cardiovascular exercise like jogging or bike riding. Personally I’ve always been a fan of walking the dog and weight lifting.
Weight lifting especially will do wonders for your skin. It is scientifically proven that lifting weights a few times a week keeps your body’s rate of protein synthesis SKY HIGH. Combined with more protein in your diet, this means hair will grow faster, skin will heal faster, and you will look better naked.
This goes for women too! Most women think working out like this will make them look chunky or fat. This is hardly the case: the “curves” all women long for are actually the result of developed muscle tissue. That’s right, you have to squat for that butt!
Moisturizing To Prevent Acne Breakouts
You should wash your face with a wash with no active ingredients, unless you are the type of person whose skin responds well to thinks like salicylic acid face wash. Benzoil peroxide based face washes will also work, but they are a little too irritating to the skin. The goal is to minimize irritation, thus minimizing the impact of the acne breakout.
Step by Step Guide to Stopping Breakouts
Here’s what your step by step face wash routine should look like to minimize acne breakouts:
Wash face with cleanser – recommend Cetaphil or off brand, has no active ingredients, made with glycerin.
Pad off face gently, avoiding abrasion or roughness
Gently apply benzoil peroxide GEL (not cream, sometimes you can only get cream if that’s the case it’s fine), rubbing the tips of your fingers in small circles over the troubled spots.
Repeat step 3 two or three more times
Apply a moisturizer with no active ingredients and look for the words “non comedogenic moisturizer” or “oil free moisturizer”.
Do this once in the morning and once before bed.
Following these steps and taking into account the diet and lifestyle changes necessary for optimal complexion and physical appearance. Yes, we know that this is not all that matters in life, but it’s good to be confident you always will look your best.
Many people wonder what their condition of acne can be classified as. Many people do not have very severe acne, and it is more superficial than anything (looks bad). Other people have more deeply rooted acne that is much more painful and much more stressful to have.
This is known as cystic acne and it is seen as cysts and nodules, which are hard painful lumps under the skin. These are those pimples that feel like that need to be popped really badly but just won’t budge, and only get worse. Acne cysts are one of the most uncomfortable types of acne out there, and I can attest to this from personal experience.
There are actually four major types of severe acne. Acne congloblata, acne fulminans, gram negative folliculitis, and nodulocystic acne (cysts and papules).
Acne congoblata is a very severe form of acne vulgaris, and is characterized by the formation of deep sores or abcesses, inflammation, scarring, damage to the skin, and blackheads. In this type of acne, nodules form around one to many comedones, which increase in size until they burst with pus.
